BUBBLING BOILERS, THOMAS CAN SPEAK!
-Thomas the Tank Engine finds his very own British voice for the first time –
As dawn breaks on the Island of Sodor this weekend, Thomas & Friends will embark on a brand new chapter as everyone’s favourite little steam engine and all his faithful friends gain a hi-tech makeover in a new fully CG animated special and are given their very own voices from this day forward.
Traditionally, Thomas & Friends have had their voices provided by great narrators such as Ringo Star, Pierce Brosnan and Michael Angelis. Now, in a brand new feature length special – Hero Of The Rails – Thomas, Spencer, James and their many friends on the Island of Sodor will take the spotlight and speak for themselves, bringing audiences that little bit closer to much loved characters who’ve kept us captivated for generations.
The man behind the voice of Thomas The Tank Engine, Ben Small, comments, “The responsibility of being the man to voice Thomas is immense, he’s so popular and so well loved. Previous narrators have done such great jobs – they left huge boots to fill but it’s such a pleasure and a privilege to be involved in this new era for Thomas.”
The new 60-minute special will not only mark the debut character voices that fans will come to know and love in future series and specials, but also feature spectacular CG animation and welcome new engines including Hiro, a Japanese engine, Victor, a Hispanic steam engine, and Kevin, a new crane who works at the spectacular new setting at Sodor Steam Works.
To celebrate the release, a celebrity premiere will take place in London on Saturday 26 September with weekend screenings at all 40 Vue cinemas across the country.
If you’re not able to experience Hero of the Rails at the cinema this weekend, it will be available on DVD from all major retailers and online from October 12th 2009.
